Perfection
Jesus is the standard. Perfection! It’s an impossible standard to even believe in…without a heart connection with Jesus. Love what He loves and hate what He hates.
I became a world class bareback rider by learning how to fail. I became one of the best in the world at getting bucked off.
The other day, I was having a conversation with one of my sons about the vision he has for what kind of man he wants to be. He said he wanted to be like Jesus, but knows that he could never be perfect. The conversation originally started with a question about where he gets his standards, but it became a conversation about how to have such high standards and deal with failure.
Every true Christian wants to live life to the fullest, but without a proper understanding of grace, it seems crazy to set Jesus as the standard. Every man I know that rides bulls at the elite level believes that he can ride any bull on the planet. He never gets on a bull planning to fail, but even the best of the best get bucked off at least 40% of the time.
It’s more than a mind game or self-confidence – it’s a shift in the way we see ourselves. You have to make the decision to believe that what God sees in you is true, even if you can’t see its perfection in your daily life. If not, we simply lower our standards and in turn excuse our potential away.
What we see in the world should have no voice for what we believe. You have the word of God (The Bible) that reveals the heart of God for you, the life of Jesus as the model for us to follow and the Holy Spirit to teach and empower you to live life to the fullest.
Dream again and let this be your confession: I believe that I am a son/ daughter of God and I am what He says I am. I am connected to the heart of Jesus and His Spirit gives me the power to be everything I was created to be. I will live a life that is ruled by the vision God has given me…
