On The Road from TX to MO to CA
Tomorrow is going to be a big day here in Dallas.
I have an interview in the morning with a local radio personality. After that, we are headed to Sky Ranch with World Champion steer wrestler Rope Myers where I will do a horse breaking. PBR’s Iron Cowboy is at 6 pm at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX and we are partnering w/ RFD-TV for church on Sunday. It will be at 8:30 am in the Fan Zone.
When God presented Himself to the world in the person of Jesus Christ, a door was opened. It was an invitation to be intimately connected to the Father, filled with His love and then empowered to share that love with others.
Through the sacrifices and gifts of many of you, Rodney will go to PBR in Kansas City, MO this weekend and I will be speaking at a youth retreat at Grand Targhee ski resort. I am praying we will be sensitive to the Spirit of God to lead us as a continuation of His eternal Kingdom.
The Bible teaches us that everything seen is temporary and everything unseen is eternal. As we pray, we deal in the unseen world which overflows into the natural.
I’m asking you to please pray. Pray that everything we do will translate into others knowing the fullness of God.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
PBR Church Kansas City, MO – There are so many things I want to share with you as supporters but must respect the boundary of honoring and protecting the privacy of the lives behind the PBR. All the while, I long for you to know that we are using the resources you’ve entrusted to us to make an everlasting difference. I feel honored to be a part of this work and am grateful for your sacrifice of time and money so others can be reached with the same truth and love that already touched your lives. With that being said, I can at least share with you the message that the Lord is speaking to and through us.
This past weekend was a whirlwind, but as I fly home, I am reflecting on how so many of the men that stand before millions through the sport of PBR are broken men…men reaching out for something real. They have success and notoriety but are living in a deep kind of fear…fear that the thing that makes them special will be taken away or the world will see through their ability to perform and see that they are really weak.
This is not unique to the sport of bull riding. It is a plague on humanity. It will continue to be until people know who they are in Christ. If our confidence is in our ability to perform, we are all victims. Do you put your value in the ability to …be an athlete …love…do good?
If value is based upon anything but being a redeemed child of God that is made in His image, it is poison. It will kill passion for life. The end result will always be the same.
Bull riders, fans, supporters, friends, loved ones, I encourage you to believe that what Jesus Christ did for you on the Cross is enough. He died for you. He died for your sins. If you believe in Him and accept Him as your Saviour, you have nothing left to prove. You are chosen. You are complete in Him. Your failures do not change His love for you. He delights in you.
If you are in Christ, you are a new creation. This is the Gospel. You are free! Dare to trust the Father of Light and the King of Glory.
All those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!” The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, and if children, also heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—seeing that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. Romans 8:14-17
California Update – In a world continually trying to measure results and predicting outcome, we must constantly be reminded that we are part of God’s Kingdom and are not measured by human means.
Power of Word Spoken – When Jesus said, “Let there be light,” what was once darkness became pure light. When He said, “Be healed,” something completely broken was restored.
The Word of God changes things and creates life where there was once nothing.
Life in Sacramento – Last weekend was a beautiful visual of Word spoken. I witnessed clarity and life in places that were once darkness and death as I interacted with PBR riders and staff. I was moved during one of our regular locker room prayer meetings when one bull rider had the courage to share a word he felt the Lord had impressed upon Him resulting in a circle of men on their knees worshipping God for His goodness.
On Sunday morning in small mountain community Church, God’s Word was fresh and powerful. I was encouraged to watch the congregation respond with uplifted hands as they were visibly encouraged. I witnessed one recently widowed man’s faith was restored and he made a verbal commitment to lead His family as a man of God.
What are you hungry for? – Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:3-5
Be still. Read His Word. Pray. Listen.
I’m on the road to Southern California for the Anaheim Invitational and 3 full days of activity. I covet your prayers. Hope to see some of you at PBR Church
