Iron Cowboy – I arrived in Dallas around midnight Friday night. Some of you probably know that I’ve been on sabbatical for 3 months, and to be truthful, I was feeling a bit nervous and already a little homesick. Thankfully, Rodney Mitchell picked me up at the airport and it was great to see him. As soon as we got to the hotel, Austin Meyer, his wife Kristen and their beautiful daughter were checking in. As we ran into them, it all came back to me and I realized this was going to feel more like a family reunion than work.

The next morning began with a stream of one on one encounters that continued until late that night. Each of these dozens of conversations was a great reminder of why Jesus put such a high premium on relationships. We can not have connection without quality time. Quality time is exactly what the last 14 years of PBR events has allowed me.

Sunday morning, I had the privilege of partnering with Tommy Brandt at the RFD-TV Cowboy Church service which often has nearly a 1/2 a million listeners. Thank you to everyone that joined us!

Looking at the big picture…the outreach events we do allow us to share the voice of Truth with the world. An equally important part of sharing Truth is building and investing in relationships. It is a beautiful thing to be a part of a sport that has given us a place to build deep connections and “do life” with PBR staff and athletes. For all you who continue to pray for and fund this ministry, thank you. It’s good to be back.

Seattle – When Jesus gave the mandate to “go and make disciples,” in Matthew 28, He demonstrated what that meant. Although the 12 men He chose ultimately followed Him wherever He went, Jesus initially went to them.

That’s what the Lord has impressed upon me regarding my role in the PBR. Go to the men and help them connect with Jesus. Follow Him where He leads.

It’s kinda like a sheepdog who gets the sheep to the shepherd. Jesus said the true shepherd would leave the 99 to go rescue the 1.

The ministry dynamic of a PBR weekend is very unique because the men are there to do a job. It can be a challenge to get undivided attention. However, if I wait (sometimes until the late hours of the night), our Father has a way of setting up very purposeful times to speak the right words. Proverbs 25:11 says, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver.” In some cases this weekend, such words helped people receive the gift of eternal life.

Although we had no scheduled services or Bible studies, the Spirit of God is doing a fresh work in the PBR. Men are hungry for Truth and are finding themselves in places of humility to receive it. Although I’m not at liberty to share personal details, I am thankful to say that I’m seeing addictions being broken, relationships being restored, and the eyes of blind now have sight. These things are taking place because it is WHY Jesus died. He has paid the price for each sin.
