Character Building
What a weekend we had in Bozeman. Our 10-year-old Holden is right in the middle of the mud during the Big Sky MX Challenge race. As a Father, I see a significant part of my role is to prepare my sons for freedom. Leslie and I make every effort to give our boys opportunities to pursue their dreams and then let them work it out. Sometimes getting stuck in the mud is a great place to be to find out how much try you have.
For many reasons, I’m not especially excited that our boys are passionate about the sport of Motocross but I do love the challenges it presents them with and the teaching moments that follow. The Motocross community is much like the cowboy world in that families travel together and spend the weekends in these little mobile communities. In just a half dozen events the boys are already winning some races and establishing great relationships. Our RV is continually filled with children who are enjoying Leslie’s plentiful goodies and I spend my days working on Bikes and meeting families. What a privilege it is to spend this time together as a family and be in such a perfect place to show love to so many people. Although Riding High Ministries has been focussed on mentoring men who ride bulls, we can now see that the Lord had a bigger vision as he has expanded our hearts for Prisons, community outreaches, foreign missions and now MX. Thank you all for your continued love, encouragement, and support.
