2014 World Finals
Leslie and I have arrived and joined Debbie and Rodney Mitchell on behalf of Riding High Ministries at PBR World Finals. Thousands of fans from all over the world are here to watch these great athletes.
Top 3 ways you can pray for the next few days:
1. We will be sharing our booth in the Fan Zone where we have the opportunity to reach thousands with the hope of Jesus Christ.
2. We’ll also be having PBR Church on Sunday which happens to be our very largest service of the year where most of the attendees have never set foot in a church. It is our privilege to show them love and what our Father has done for them.
3. We are joining forces with a few sponsors to cater especially to the PBR wives and their families behind the scenes. Our goal is to provide them with a haven to fellowship, unwind and be encouraged.
Update – We have arrived home from World Finals in Las Vegas and I find myself so thankful to share what the Lord did, but feel as if I am unable to quite find the right words to describe the magnitude.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:7, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” Sometimes this seems a mystery but at very specific times, it clearly comes into focus…
…times like last week when my friend and brother Kody Lostroh walked up on a stage in front of hundreds of fans and spoke of our Father’s goodness and how successful he considers this season as he stood on one leg with a torn groin and broken ankle after finishing one of the worst statistical seasons of his career. He barely made the finals and showed up in Vegas with a broken body. Even though he made a heroic effort and had some great rides, he couldn’t get on in the final round.
If we evaluate the success of our lives as the world does, Kody could easily be considered crazy to claim his God good and his season as successful. Because we as God’s children are evaluated through the lens of eternity, the glorious outcomes of Kody’s hardships have an eternal security where there is no loss.
There was another moment when a mother of a very sick child was moved to tears as world champion Mike Lee kneeled with her son and prayed with him.
Other less dramatic but equally significant moments included groups of volunteers that sacrificially gave of themselves to come to Vegas and spend hours greeting people and distributing Born Wild, Created to Be Free DVDs and Bibles.
One family even brought their children to share in serving people. Their mom brought peanut butter sandwiches and they would spend each day at our booth making sure as many people as possible heard the Truth of Jesus Christ.
My wife, Leslie, loved a “Make a Wish” family so well that in the 30 minutes we had to spend with them, she had already exchanged numbers as they expressed how they wanted to come to our house.
No matter where you are, Truth expressed through love creates miracles and the light of Christ is so bright that no darkness can overcome it.
Thank you for partnering with us to shine God’s power and the light of Jesus Christ in Las Vegas. We are grateful for your prayers and support. God bless you.
“The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5
